The advantage of having an Electronic Overspeed Detection System (EODS) with triple redundancy in gas and steam turbine driven machinery is that these types of devices can prevent catastrophic machine failures.  The Allen-Bradley 1440-REX03-04RG XM-442 Voted EODS Relay Module is a must-have protection device not only because it meets a variety of regulations and standards but because it pays for itself quickly and in the field.  The 1440-REX03-04RG XM-442 Module only needs an XM-946 terminal base unit catalog number 1440-TB-G for installation.  The recommendation from is to first wire the XM-946 base unit and then install the XM-442 module.  preferably in a protected enclosure, to keep high temperatures and humidity away.
