The Siemens 1XP8001-1/1024 rotary encoder is a high-performance device used to convert the rotational position or motion of a shaft into an electrical signal, which can be used for feedback in control systems or to monitor the speed and direction of a rotating element.

The 1XP8001-1/1024 is an incremental rotary encoder, meaning it generates a set number of electrical pulses (1024 per revolution) for each complete rotation of the shaft.

The 1XP8001-1/1024 direction of rotation can also be determined by the phase difference between the two output signals (A and B channels).

With a resolution of 1024 pulses per revolution (PPR), this 1XP8001-1/1024 encoder is capable of providing highly accurate position feedback. 

At 1024 PPR, each pulse represents a 0.351° rotation of the shaft (360°/1024).
