The CE 281 accelerometer is equipped with a centre mounted symmetrical shear mode polycrystalline element. The attached electronics eliminates the need for a charge amplifier. The integral cable between the transducer and the electronics casing is protected by a hermetic stainless steel, flexible tube. 

The electronics provides a charge-to-current conversion, and the modulated current output signal allows the use of a 2-wire cable for trouble-free transmission over long distances. The system is fully protected against cooling fluids, lubricants, water, steam etc.

The sensor head of the CE281 444-281-000-111 is hermetically sealed to the internal electronic circuitry via a low-noise, shielded internal cable, which is further protected by a flexible, leak-proof protective conduit (stainless steel hose). The sensor head, protective conduit, and electronics housing are fused into a single, integral unit using gas welding, providing comprehensive corrosion resistance to coolants, lubricants, water, steam, and other potential contaminants. Both the CE281 sensor element and its internal electronics feature integral case isolation from the housing; all variants are certified for explosion protection.
