How is the sensing range adjusted during commissioning?

Use the sensing-range adjuster with the target in its operating position. For the /31/40a/116 version, the official adjustment range is 200 to 2000 mm using a 200 mm × 200 mm standard white reference target.

Which supply and output apply to the /31/40a/116 variant?

That full variant accepts 12–240 V DC or 24–240 V AC at 50–60 Hz and provides one relay output rated up to 3 A; another suffix must be checked against its own data sheet.

How should the PG9 cable be prepared and installed?

Use the specified flexible cable and gasket, prepare approximately 30±2 mm of wire length with 5±1 mm strip length, and leave about 2 mm between the cable gland and housing instead of tightening the gland fully into the enclosure.

How do the yellow and red indicators support setup?

The yellow LED shows the switching state. The red LED indicates reduced functional reserve or a pre-fault condition, prompting checks for dirt, misalignment or insufficient received light.

Why can dark or small objects reduce the usable range?

Diffuse sensing depends on reflected light, so dark or small targets return less energy. Re-align the sensor, shorten the range setting if necessary and clean the optical face before increasing sensitivity.

Does the sensor require network configuration?

No. This version is a hard-wired relay sensor. Commission it through power, output-circuit, light/dark selection and sensing-range checks, then verify the exact suffix and terminal assignment for ordering.
