No. EC401 is an ESB bus coupler with one ESB port. Do not connect or configure it as a general-purpose Ethernet network interface.

What ESB performance and distance are specified?

The specified I/O data transmission rate is 128 Mbps and maximum bus length is 10 m for the documented configuration.

How many connected units are allowed?

The cited specification allows up to nine ANB10, ANT401, ANT411 or ANT421 units in the stated arrangement. Count the complete documented bus configuration, not only local I/O nodes.

Where is a single coupler installed?

For the explicitly named FCU configurations, the single ESB coupler occupies slot 7 and a dummy module occupies slot 8. Follow the drawing for the actual control unit.

What is required for redundant ESB?

Use two compatible EC401 couplers in slots 7 and 8 of the documented FCU configuration and the corresponding redundant bus connection arrangement.
