02Build an installed-parts passport

Compare total recovery cost: the item, engineering time, testing, shutdown exposure, logistics and the remaining useful life of the machine. 05Use a decision flow with clear release gates
Release a spare purchase after identity and engineering acceptance are clear. Release a repair order after the evaluation and acceptance criteria are agreed. Release an upgrade only with an approved design, test plan, shutdown window and recovery arrangement. Assign an owner to unresolved assumptions so a quotation does not become an accidental technical approval.
Siemens’ STEP 7 migration documentation explains that program migration can adapt code, but the original hardware configuration is not transferred automatically; the migrated program must be reviewed in a test environment.
