The Bently Nevada 330180-X1-05 MOD:145004-17 is a high-performance, precision signal-conditioning unit belonging to the industry-standard 3300 XL Proximity Transducer System. It is engineered to operate seamlessly with compatible 3300-series 5mm and 3300 XL 8mm eddy-current proximity probes. The sensor drives radio-frequency (RF) signals to the probe tip and translates the dynamic gap distance between the probe face and the conductive target into a highly proportional, continuous negative DC voltage output, with a precise scale factor of 7.87 V/mm (200 mV/mil).

The X1 variant designates a 5.0-meter electrical system length and comes equipped with an integrated DIN-rail mounting clip for high-density, simplified cabinet installation. The 05 selection provides international hazardous area safety compliances, including CSA, ATEX, and IECEx approvals, facilitating integration into intrinsically safe measurement loops.

Q1: What does "MOD:145004-17" mean, and why is it critical?

A: "MOD" stands for factory modification. Standard Bently Nevada 3300 XL Proximitor sensors are pre-calibrated for AISI 4140 steel. 

Q2: What happens if I use this MOD:145004-17 sensor on a standard AISI 4140 steel shaft?

A: It will result in measurement errors. Because the sensor expects a BS970 080M40 carbon steel target, using it on standard 4140 steel will distort the Average Scale Factor (ASF).

Q3: What probes and extension cables can I use with this Proximitor?

A: It is fully compatible with standard 3300-series 5mm or 3300 XL 8mm proximity probes and extension cables. However, because of the "X1" option code, the total electrical system length must equal 5.0 meters 

Q4: Does the probe itself need a special "MOD" code to match the shaft?

A: No. Only the Proximitor sensor (the signal conditioner) requires the modification code. Standard 3300 XL 8mm or 3300 5mm probes can be used, provided the Proximitor is this specific MOD unit.
