Q: Do I need to calibrate the 330101 probe when replacing it?
No. All 3300 XL 8 mm system components are 100% interchangeable. You can swap the probe without bench calibrating the Proximitor Sensor.
Q: Is the 3300 XL series backward-compatible with older, non-XL 3300 systems?
Yes. 3300 XL 8 mm probes are fully compatible with non-XL Bently Nevada 3300 series 5 mm and 8 mm system components.
Q: What should the target DC gap voltage look like?
For the standard 2.0 mm linear range, the normal operating gap voltage falls between -2 Vdc and -18 Vdc. Technicians typically aim for a midpoint of -10 Vdc (roughly a 1.27 mm or 50 mil gap) during standard machine assembly.
Q: What happens if my target shaft is not AISI 4140 steel?
The probe will still read the distance, but the Incremental Scale Factor (ISF) will drift away from the nominal 3.94 V/mm.
